María Santos-Sainz has a PhD in Information Sciences and is a tenured Professor of Journalism at the Bordeaux Aquitaine Journalism Institute at the University Bordeaux Montaigne in Bordeaux, the direction of which she took on from 2006 to 2012. She has been President of CEJER –from 2010 to 2015-, Chercheurs en Journalisme des Ecoles Reconnues (Researchers in Journalism from Recognised Schools). She is the author of several books, including Albert Camus, periodista (Libros.com, 2016), L’élite journalistique et son pouvoir (Editions Apogée, 2006), Espagnols à Bordeaux et en Aquitaine (SudOuest, 2006) and El poder de la élite periodística (Fragua, 2003). Before turning to teaching, she was an editor in the Cultural section and supplements of culture and books (Culturas y Libros) of the Diario 16 newspaper and chief-editor of the Españoles en el Mundo Review. She has also collaborated on several publications both in France and Spain such as Cambio 16, Fígaro Magazine, Sud Ouest, etc.
