Aïda Colmenero Dïaz (Madrid, 1981) is a creator, actress, choreographer, dancer, filmmaker and performing arts curator. She is Germaine Acogny’s sole Spanish disciple.
She is the founder and director of the multidisciplinary project Ella Poema, created with leading female performers from more than a dozen African countries, which has been presented in venues such as Mercat de les Flors, Teatros del Canal, Auditorio de Tenerife, Potsdammer Tanztage and the San Francisco Dance Film Festival.
Her work has been supported and produced by Spanish Embassies and international organisations such as UNESCO and Casa África, and she has received two grants from the Spanish Ministry of Culture and the Spanish Agency for Cooperation and Development.
In 2019 she was commissioned by the Colombian Ministry of Culture and Acción Cultural Española to create a new piece for the ballet of the Compañía de Danza Contemporánea de Cali. She has given masterclasses at various universities in Europe, Latin America and Africa, such as Winneba in Ghana; College of the Arts, in Namibia; Abdou Moumouni de Niamey, in Niger; de Sport, in Copenhagen; Pontificia Católica de Quito, in Ecuador, and Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, among others.
In 2016 she founded the Africa Moment platform, of which she is the artistic director, curator and international advisor.
